CHECK BACK SOON FOR ADDITIONAL NUTRITION INFORMATION ABOUT OUR MENUS!

HOW DO WE DECIDE WHAT TO SERVE THE CHILDREN?
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) sets the guidelines for the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs. USDA requires that each meal served include milk, fruit and/or vegetables, bread or a bread alternate like pasta, and meat or another protein-rich food like cheese. These items make up the USDA meal pattern.

Did you know that our Child Nutrition
Department has successfully passed state reviews in 97-98 and 00-01 regarding the
nutrient content of our menus?

All of Akron Public Schools' Child Nutrition Menus are analyzed using USDA approved software. Calories must be adequate and total fat may not exceed 30 percent over a week with saturated fat less than 10 percent over a week. Menus must meet minimum nutrient requirements for protein, calcium, iron, vitamin A and vitamin C. In the future, additional nutrional analysis information will be provided specific to our menus on this page.
